At the heart of Boston University lies the students’ unwavering commitment to their school, but more importantly, to their fellow peers. Nestled within the College of Communication, the COM Student Government, a passionate group of students, serves as the governing body for their peers. With the aim of enhancing the experience of every undergraduate student in the college, the COM Student Government sets forth a series of objectives and goals to fulfill their mission.
One of the most important purposes the COM Student Government serves is that it brings together the various Communication majors, providing them with a supportive and collaborative community that not only helps create friendships and connections but also enhances academic and professional networking opportunities for all its members. With a focus on inclusivity and support, the COM Student Government fosters a stronger sense of community through biweekly meetings, involvement opportunities, and monthly events. From keynote speakers and career development workshops to class Q&As and networking with student organizations, the COM Student Government offers a diverse and engaging lineup.
The COM Student Government also gives back to the community with a spring charity fundraising event, donating 100% of the profits to a meaningful organization that benefits COM students. COM Direct, the DEI Department, actively engages with students and faculty on important political and social issues, ensuring that every voice is heard.
The incoming first-year students are in for a warm welcome, with the COM Student Government providing a supportive platform through opportunities and events. These initiatives encourage these newcomers to ask questions, explore the COM community, and build connections with both students and faculty. In a spirit of unity, the Student Government seeks to collaborate with other student governments and organizations across Boston University.
